Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, evidence-based nursing care for post-operative Med-Surg patients
- Manage wound care, perform dressing changes and maintain drains with precision
- Safely operate and troubleshoot Baxter and Medfusion IV pumps and other unit equipment
- Document patient status, interventions and updates accurately in Meditech
- Advocate for patient needs and coordinate care with interdisciplinary team members
- Monitor patient progress and respond promptly to changes in condition
- Support unit flow while maintaining safe patient ratios and high-quality patient experience
- Participate in shift handoffs and unit communication to ensure continuity of care
Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) qualification — RN requirement is listed for this role
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification — must have
- Minimum 2 years of nursing experience (Med-Surg experience preferred and relevant)
- Comfortable caring for post-operative patients and performing wound care and drain management
- Competency with IV pump management (Baxter/Medfusion) and SCDs preferred
- Strong teamwork, communication and patient advocacy skills
Knowledge & Skills
- Meditech electronic medical record experience
- Post-operative care and Med-Surg clinical routines
- Wound care, dressing changes and drain management
- IV pump operation and troubleshooting (Baxter, Medfusion)
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple patients
- Effective communication with patients, families and multidisciplinary teams
