Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, patient-centered care to laboring patients throughout labor and delivery
• Monitor maternal and fetal status using appropriate assessments and fetal monitoring tools
• Actively participate in deliveries and immediate newborn care in collaboration with the OB team
• Develop and implement individualized nursing care plans and document interventions accurately
• Educate patients and families on labor progress, pain management and postpartum expectations
• Coordinate care across interdisciplinary teams and escalate changes in patient condition promptly
• Support unit readiness by assisting with triage, transfer, and post-partum planning as needed

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license — Texas state license or valid multistate compact RN licensure recommended
• Minimum 1 year of recent nursing experience (clinical or L&D experience preferred)
• Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required; NRP, ACLS or specialty certifications encouraged
• Familiarity with fetal monitoring and labor support best practices (formal fetal monitoring training preferred)
• Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and communication skills
• Ability to pass necessary facility-specific onboarding, background checks and immunization requirements

Education

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN preferred)

Knowledge & Skills

• Skilled in labor assessment, fetal heart monitoring interpretation and maternal-fetal surveillance
• Comfortable with acute care workflows and rapid clinical decision-making in high-acuity moments
• Proficient at clear documentation and handoff communication within interdisciplinary teams
• Able to provide patient education on labor, delivery and immediate postpartum care
• Team-focused mindset with a commitment to safety, quality and evidence-based practice
