Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, high-quality direct patient care to med/surg patients during night shifts
• Assess and monitor patient status, recognizing changes in condition and escalating concerns promptly
• Administer medications and treatments safely and document all care accurately in the medical record
• Collaborate with physicians, nursing colleagues and multidisciplinary teams to coordinate individualized care plans
• Perform admissions, discharges and transfers with clear patient education and smooth handoffs
• Deliver patient and family education about diagnoses, medications and post-discharge care
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and maintain compliance with facility policies and procedures

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Illinois (or Compact RN license where applicable)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; Advanced certifications (ACLS, PALS) a plus
• Clinical experience in medical-surgical nursing preferred — confident caring for adult patients with varied acuity
• Strong assessment, IV therapy and medication administration skills
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills; dependable and patient-centered

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Thorough understanding of med/surg nursing principles and common adult diagnoses
• Proficient with medication administration, IV management and wound care
• Skilled in patient assessment, clinical documentation and electronic medical records
• Ability to prioritize, multitask and respond effectively during urgent situations
• Comfortable working independently overnight while collaborating with on-call teams
