Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide clinical leadership and oversight across units as the on-duty house supervisor during the night shift
• Float to ER, ICU and Med/Surg to cover meal-period breaks and ensure safe patient care continuity
• Act as the escalation point for clinical issues and coordinate multidisciplinary responses
• Support staff by triaging priorities, delegating tasks, and ensuring safe staffing levels
• Communicate clearly with nursing teams, providers and ancillary services to maintain smooth operations
• Document incidents and staffing decisions accurately and assist with handoffs to day leadership

Qualifications

• Active California RN license (required)
• BLS, ACLS and PALS required; NRP preferred
• Proof of negative TB screening within 12 months of contract start (required)
• Experience working night shifts and floating between ER, ICU and Med/Surg
• Prior supervisory or charge nurse experience preferred
• Strong clinical judgment, communication and delegation skills

Knowledge & Skills

• Critical care assessment and prioritization across multiple units
• Triage and rapid decision-making under pressure
• Leadership, staff coordination and conflict resolution
• Familiarity with ER, ICU and Med/Surg workflows and common interventions
• Clear, professional communication with multidisciplinary teams
• Comfortable documenting decisions and handoff processes
