Roles & Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments and diagnostic evaluations for patients in a correctional setting
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans and evidence-based interventions
- Provide individual and group therapy focused on stabilization, coping skills, and rehabilitation
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including nursing, custody, and specialty services to coordinate care
- Document clinical encounters clearly and timely in the medical record and contribute to continuity of care
- Respond to mental health crises and provide appropriate crisis intervention and referrals
- Participate in case conferences, treatment planning meetings, and quality improvement activities
Qualifications
- Active, unrestricted California Psychologist license (or active California LCSW license if applying as LCSW)
- Experience working in mental health settings; experience with correctional or forensic populations a strong fit
- Ability to complete facility-required background checks and security clearances
- Comfortable working collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams in a custodial healthcare environment
- Available to work the specified daytime schedule (Mon & Fri or Wed & Fri, 7:00 AM - 5:00 PM)
- Willingness to attend a one-week orientation prior to clinical start
Knowledge & Skills
- Skilled in diagnostic assessment and risk evaluation
- Competence in evidence-based therapies (CBT, DBT-informed strategies, trauma-informed care)
- Strong clinical documentation and case formulation abilities
- Crisis management and de-escalation skills appropriate for correctional settings
- Good interpersonal and communication skills for collaboration with custody and healthcare staff
- Cultural competence and ability to work with diverse patient populations
