Roles & Responsibilities

• Prepare operating rooms by ensuring instruments, supplies, and equipment are sterile and ready
• Maintain a safe sterile field and follow strict aseptic technique throughout procedures
• Anticipate surgeon needs and pass instruments efficiently during cases
• Perform accurate instrument and sponge counts before, during, and after procedures
• Support emergent and trauma cases, including craniotomies, vascular, and urology procedures
• Handle specimens properly and assist with documentation in the patient record
• Troubleshoot OR equipment and coordinate with central sterile and biomedical teams
• Collaborate with surgeons, nurses, and anesthesia to deliver high-quality patient care

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited surgical technologist program or equivalent training
• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) preferred
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
• Experience in an operating room setting, trauma experience highly desirable
• Comfortable working nights, weekends, and responding to emergent cases
• Strong teamwork, communication, and attention to detail
• Valid ability to work in the U.S. (permitting documentation as required)

Education

• Completion of an accredited surgical technologist program or equivalent certificate; CST preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Expertise in sterile technique and operating room protocols
• Familiarity with instruments and disposables used in craniotomy, vascular, and urology cases
• Ability to maintain instrument counts and ensure surgical safety standards
• Comfort working in a high-acuity, fast-paced trauma environment
• Proficiency with basic OR documentation and electronic medical records
• Excellent situational awareness and the ability to prioritize under pressure
