Roles & Responsibilities
- Assess and interpret speech, language and swallowing evaluations for patients from birth through geriatric
- Develop individualized, medically based treatment plans and set realistic, measurable goals
- Provide therapy interventions across settings (inpatient and outpatient) including pediatric and geriatric care
- Perform specialty swallow assessments and procedures such as VFSS/MBS and FEES
- Document patient assessment, treatment, progress and discharge in the electronic health record accurately and promptly
- Instruct patients, families and caregivers in therapy carryover and home programs to maximize functional gains
- Collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, social workers and the Physical Rehabilitation team for coordinated care
- Participate in quality improvement activities, risk management, and medical staff credentialing
- Deliver staff and student education, mentorship, and in-service training to strengthen the team
Qualifications
- Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an ASHA-accredited program (required)
- ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) — must maintain during employment
- Valid, full, unrestricted Speech-Language Pathology license (Arizona or other U.S. state/DC/PR) required
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification by the American Heart Association required
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist
- Able to complete and maintain medical staff credentialing; NOT accepting SLPAs for this role
Education
- Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology (ASHA-accredited)
Knowledge & Skills
- Proven skills in assessment and evaluation across the lifespan
- Experience with swallowing evaluations and instrumentation (VFSS/MBS, FEES)
- Strong EHR documentation skills and attention to detail
- Expertise in pediatric speech-language and pediatric feeding evaluations
- Comfort with cognitive and voice treatment approaches
- Ability to evaluate assistive technology and adaptive equipment
- Effective interdisciplinary collaboration and clear communication with clinical teams
- Experience providing education to patients, families, students and staff
