Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver compassionate, high-quality stepdown and telemetry nursing care to cardiac and PCU patients
• Continuously monitor telemetry and act promptly on changes in cardiac rhythms
• Safely manage IV medications and drips (heparin, diltiazem, amiodarone, nitro, Lasix, ketamine, etc.)
• Respond as a Rapid Response team member to stabilize patients and support emergent needs
• Document patient care accurately and efficiently in the Meditech EMR
• Collaborate with physicians, RNs, PCTs and the interdisciplinary team to coordinate excellent patient care
• Provide patient and family education to support recovery and safe discharge planning

Qualifications

• Active RN licensure as required by state/assignment
• ACLS certification (required)
• Strong experience in PCU/Stepdown or telemetry and cardiac nursing
• Proven competence with IV drips and titratable medications
• Comfortable working with telemetry, transport monitors, trachs, chest tubes, and related equipment
• Experience charting in Meditech or similar EMR
• Comfort working as part of a rapid response team

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry rhythm recognition and cardiac monitoring interpretation
• IV pump and drip titration management
• Familiarity with ventilatory support (BiPAP/CPAP) and heated high-flow systems
• Skill in trach care, chest tube management, and pacer/pacer wire support
• Ability to prioritize in high-acuity settings and maintain clear, concise documentation
• Strong teamwork, communication, and patient education abilities
