Roles & Responsibilities
- Assess surgical patients preoperatively and develop individualized, safety-focused plans of care
- Implement, evaluate, and adjust intraoperative care to maintain optimal patient outcomes
- Lead and supervise the OR team, coordinating room activity and anticipating schedule changes
- Assemble and set up surgical equipment and supplies; monitor and maintain the sterile field
- Assist anesthesia as needed and communicate proactively with physicians and ancillary departments
- Document care thoroughly and clearly to support continuity and legal/clinical standards
- Participate in staff development through preceptorship, in-services, and continuing education
Qualifications
- Active Michigan RN license (must be current and active)
- BLS (AHA) certification — required
- Minimum 2 years of perioperative nursing experience
- Epic experience highly preferred
- Prior travel experience preferred
- Up-to-date skills checklist (within last year) and full work history
- Two supervisory reference forms completed within the last two years
- Candidates must provide permanent address; facility will not consider local candidates within a 50-mile radius
Knowledge & Skills
- Perioperative nursing and intraoperative patient care
- Patient assessment and individualized care plan development
- Sterile technique and monitoring of sterile field
- Strong documentation skills and familiarity with Epic EMR
- OR team leadership and effective communication with multidisciplinary teams
- Anesthesia assistance and surgical equipment setup
- Preceptorship, staff development, and supervisory experience
