Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess and monitor med/surg patients with attention to stroke-related needs
• Perform NIHSS assessments accurately and document findings
• Provide compassionate, evidence-based nursing care during night shifts
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to create and implement patient care plans
• Recognize and respond to changes in patient condition, escalating appropriately
• Educate patients and families about their care, recovery expectations, and follow-up

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) credential; Illinois licensure preferred or appropriate compact license
• NIHSS certification is required
• Experience or comfort working in a med/surg setting and caring for stroke patients
• Availability to work nights and every other weekend as required for agency nurses
• Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and communication skills
