Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care including medication administration and treatments with compassion and precision
- Assess patient needs regularly and deliver skilled nursing services per the physician-authorized plan of care
- Collaborate with the care team to evaluate treatment effectiveness and propose updates to improve outcomes
- Process and execute physician/provider orders accurately and in a timely manner
- Delegate appropriate tasks to patient care technicians while maintaining patient safety and quality
- Respond promptly to alarms and assist with patient transfers to ensure safe mobility
- Follow up on medication changes and clarify orders to prevent errors and optimize care
Qualifications
- Active Michigan RN license (must be active)
- Minimum 2 years of Med-Surg nursing experience required
- BLS (AHA) required
- ACLS (AHA) required
- Travel nursing experience highly preferred
- Epic electronic medical record experience preferred
- Two supervisory reference forms from within the last two years (required)
- Current skills checklist (within 1 year) relevant to the specialty
- Candidates must be outside a 50-mile radius of the facility (local candidates will not be considered)
Knowledge & Skills
- Direct patient care and strong patient assessment skills
- Medication administration and treatments knowledge
- Care planning and evaluating treatment effectiveness
- Processing and following physician orders accurately
- Delegation to and supervision of patient care technicians
- Comfort caring for general surgical and orthopedic surgical patients
- Experience responding to alarms and managing patient transfers
- Familiarity with Epic charting is a plus
