Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide high-acuity critical care for MICU patients, managing complex ventilator and hemodynamic needs
- Perform and assist with bedside procedures such as central line placement, thoracentesis, dialysis catheter placement, cardioversion and intubation
- Use clinical judgment to triage, prioritize, and deliver timely interventions that improve patient outcomes
- Document patient care accurately and efficiently in Meditech to ensure continuity and compliance
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams — physicians, RTs, dialysis techs — to create individualized plans of care
- Monitor and interpret cardiac output and other advanced monitoring data to guide treatment decisions
- Mentor and communicate with colleagues and families with compassion and clinical clarity
Qualifications
- Active RN Texas license required (temporary licenses will not be accepted)
- Minimum 2+ years of MICU/MSICU experience required
- BLS and ACLS required
- CCRN preferred
- Comfortable performing ICU procedures (central lines, thoracentesis, dialysis catheter placements, intubations, cardioversions)
- Experience with Meditech documentation preferred
- Ability to work rotating night shifts and weekends
Knowledge & Skills
- Advanced ventilator management and respiratory support
- Central line and bedside procedural skills
- Experience with NXStage dialysis systems and dialysis catheter care
- Familiarity with Arctic Sun temperature management
- Proficiency with GE cardiac output monitoring and interpretation
- Strong Meditech documentation skills
- Critical thinking, rapid assessment, and strong communication in high-stress environments
