Roles & Responsibilities
- Assess patients’ functional abilities and craft individualized treatment plans that get results
- Implement therapeutic interventions focused on improving independence in activities of daily living
- Collaborate with nurses, PTs, SLPs, and caregivers to coordinate high-quality, person-centered care
- Educate patients and families on strategies, adaptive equipment, and home modifications
- Document progress clearly and timely to support continuity of care and outcome tracking
- Recommend adaptive equipment and train patients in safe, effective use
Qualifications
- Active Occupational Therapist license in Texas, or ability to obtain one prior to start
- NBCOT certification preferred or current registration as applicable
- Current basic life support (BLS/CPR) certification
- Comfortable working independently in a skilled setting with a patient-centered approach
- Ability to pass background and health screenings as required by the facility
- Travel-friendly mindset and ability to mobilize for a short-term contract
Education
- Degree in Occupational Therapy (Master’s in OT, OTD, or equivalent entry-level degree acceptable)
Knowledge & Skills
- Skilled in ADL assessment and therapeutic goal setting
- Proficient with adaptive equipment recommendations and training
- Strong clinical documentation and charting practices
- Excellent communication and interdisciplinary collaboration skills
- Knowledge of discharge planning and community resource coordination
- Clinical problem solving with a focus on safety and function
