Roles & Responsibilities

• Circulate for orthopedic procedures, ensuring patient safety and smooth intraoperative flow
• Coordinate preoperative preparation and verify patient identity, consent and documentation
• Maintain a safe, sterile environment and anticipate surgical team needs
• Communicate clearly with surgeons, anesthesia and scrub techs to keep cases on track
• Provide compassionate perioperative patient care and education to patients and families
• Document care accurately in the patient record and support efficient case turnover
• Assist with patient transfers and positioning for orthopedic procedures

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Colorado or active Compact RN license
• Perioperative or OR circulating experience, orthopedic experience strongly preferred
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; ACLS/PALS if facility prefers
• Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking and teamwork skills
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced surgical environment and adapting to changing case schedules
• Ability to pass required background checks, health screenings and competency validations

Education

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN)
• BSN preferred but not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of sterile technique and surgical asepsis
• Familiarity with orthopedic surgical instruments, implants and procedure flow
• Skilled in perioperative patient assessment and monitoring
• Excellent communication and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams
• Proficient documentation skills and comfort with electronic health records
• Time management and prioritization during busy OR lists
