Roles & Responsibilities

• Implement components of patient care and assist the Physical Therapist in treatments across the lifespan
• Help patients stretch and perform therapeutic exercises to improve mobility and function
• Collaborate closely with the PT to obtain data, track progress, and modify care plans as needed
• Teach patients and families practical at-home techniques and balance training to support safe discharge
• Assist patients with transfers from wheelchairs or walkers to the therapy area and provide mobility assistance
• Keep the therapy space clean, organized, and ready for effective rehab sessions
• Complete administrative tasks such as scheduling, documentation, and filing to ensure continuity of care
• Communicate clearly and compassionately with patients and families about goals, progress, and home strategies

Qualifications

• Active PTA license — Missouri state license required (Compact allowed)
• Minimum of 1 year of PTA experience — REQUIRED
• LTC or Rehab experience — REQUIRED
• Comfort working with a variety of diagnoses including cognitive, neurological and dietary needs
• Strong communication skills for working with patients, families and interdisciplinary teams

Knowledge & Skills

• Patient care and hands-on therapeutic exercise techniques
• Mobility assistance and safe transfer procedures
• ADL training and functional task practice
• Care documentation and data collection to support PT oversight
• Ability to follow PT instructions and collaborate on care plan modifications
• Effective patient/family education and communication
