Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, high-quality medical-surgical nursing care to adult patients on a 21-bed unit
- Perform ongoing patient assessments, monitor telemetry, and respond to changes in condition
- Administer and manage epidurals, PCA pumps, chest tubes, and surgical drains with attention to safety
- Perform phlebotomy and blood glucose monitoring as part of routine care
- Document accurately and efficiently in the Meditech EMR to ensure continuity of care
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members to develop and execute patient-centered plans
- Assist with admissions, discharges, and patient education to promote recovery and reduce readmissions
- Support unit staffing needs, including floating to other medical-surgical areas when required
Qualifications
- BLS certification (required)
- Minimum of 1 year of Medical-Surgical (MS) experience (must have); job listing indicates ~2 years of experience overall
- Comfort and experience with telemetry monitoring and managing moderate-acuity adult patients
- Demonstrated ability to manage PCA, epidural care, chest tubes, and surgical drains
- Strong teamwork, communication skills, and a compassionate bedside manner
- Willingness to work a rotating night schedule and cover every-other-weekend shifts
