Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, high-quality nursing care to medical-surgical and trauma patients on a 34-bed unit
• Monitor and interpret telemetry and EKG data to detect changes in patient condition
• Administer medications and blood products safely and document administration accurately
• Manage complex wounds and use wound vac therapy as needed
• Care for patients with tubes and drains including NG, PEG, feeding tubes, and chest tubes
• Perform thorough assessments and handoffs to ensure continuity of care
• Document all care in the Meditech EMR clearly and promptly
• Collaborate with physicians, techs, and interdisciplinary staff to create effective care plans
• Support unit workflow and patient flow during night shifts and assist with admissions and discharges

Qualifications

• Active RN license (required)
• BLS certification (required)
• Minimum 2 years of clinical nursing experience with Medical-Surgical experience
• Telemetry experience preferred; trauma experience a plus
• Comfortable with 12-hour night shifts and every other weekend rotation
• Strong clinical judgment, excellent communication skills, and a team-player attitude

• Proficiency with Meditech EMR for charting and documentation
• Telemetry monitoring and basic EKG interpretation skills
• Wound care management including wound vac experience
• Safe administration of blood products
• Pain management strategies and assessment
• Care of tubes and drains including chest tubes
• Familiarity with common unit equipment such as bladder scanners, Hoyer lifts, and pulse oximetry
• Ability to work effectively in a 5-6:1 patient ratio environment
