Shift Type: Rotating nights, 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM (12-hour night shifts); rotating schedule with every-other-weekend coverage; night shift (NOC)

Candidate Pay Rate: $56 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Monitor and interpret cardiac telemetry continuously to keep patients safe and detect changes early
- Administer medications accurately, including narcotics and cardiac drips, following policy and titration orders
- Provide advanced progressive care bedside nursing for post-op cardiac and stepdown patients
- Manage complex lines and devices such as central lines, chest tubes, pacer wires and drains with confidence
- Perform rhythm interpretation and obtain vital signs and assessments on schedule to guide care decisions
- Document thoroughly and timely in Meditech to ensure continuity of care and clear communication
- Collaborate with physicians, unit staff and interdisciplinary team members to create and follow effective care plans
- Educate patients and families about cardiac procedures, recovery expectations and self-care before discharge
Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license for Virginia (required)
- Minimum 2 years of recent RN experience (telemetry/stepdown or progressive care strongly preferred)
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications (required)
- Comfort and competency administering narcotics and titrating cardiac drips
- Experience with telemetry monitoring and rhythm interpretation
- Ability to float to tele and med-surg as needed and work collaboratively in a team-focused unit
Education
- Active RN license (required)
- Nursing degree (ADN or BSN) preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Telemetry and cardiac monitoring interpretation
- Progressive care / stepdown nursing practices
- Medication administration including narcotics and cardiac drips (e.g., Cardizem, amiodarone, heparin, nitro)
- Central line and chest tube care, pacer wire management
- Proficiency with Meditech EMR for documentation
- Strong critical thinking and prioritization in higher-acuity settings
- Patient education and compassionate bedside manner
- Ability to follow unit policies like q4h VS and rhythm checks
