Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour day shifts, 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM; typically 3x12s per week with every-other-weekend coverage (day shift, rotating schedule)
Hours per Week: 36
Candidate Pay Rate: $55 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality post-operative orthopedic nursing care for hip, knee, spine and other ortho patients
- Assess, monitor and manage patient conditions, intervening early to keep recovery on track
- Document care clearly and promptly using Meditech to ensure continuity and safety
- Perform bedside shift reports and safety rounding to keep patients informed and comfortable
- Collaborate with surgeons, physical therapy and the interdisciplinary team to optimize outcomes
- Educate patients and families about post-op expectations, mobility and discharge plans
- Adhere to AIDET and patient experience practices to create compassionate, respectful interactions
- Support unit staffing by floating to like med-surg areas when needed
Qualifications
- Active RN license (ability to practice in Virginia preferred/required depending on credentialing)
- BLS certification (required)
- Minimum 2 years of clinical nursing experience, ideally Med-Surg or Orthopedics
- Experience caring for post-operative orthopedic patients (hip, knee, spine) highly preferred
- Comfortable using Meditech or similar electronic documentation systems (Meditech preferred)
- Positive attitude, strong communication skills, and commitment to patient-centered care
Knowledge & Skills
- Solid Med-Surg nursing fundamentals with orthopedic/post-op focus
- Proficiency in patient assessment, pain management and mobility support
- Familiarity with orthopedics-related equipment and post-op protocols
- Clear, timely documentation practices in electronic health records (Meditech)
- Teamwork, adaptability and the ability to prioritize in a busy surgical unit
- Commitment to safety rounding, bedside reporting and patient experience best practices
