Roles & Responsibilities

• Monitor and assess patients on the Progressive/Med-Surg unit, responding to changes in neuro and medical status
• Perform and document skilled nursing care including IV therapy, central line dressing changes, tube feedings, wound care, and Foley catheter insertions
• Assist neurologists with bedside procedures such as lumbar punctures when needed
• Use Meditech to document care accurately and communicate effectively with the interdisciplinary team
• Provide compassionate patient and family education to support recovery and discharge planning
• Collaborate with colleagues to maintain safe patient ratios and high-quality outcomes on nights and weekends

Qualifications

• Active RN (Registered Nurse) licensure (appropriate state authorization to practice)
• Minimum 2 years of clinical nursing experience, Med-Surg or progressive care experience preferred
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Comfortable with Meditech electronic medical record system
• Proven skills in IV therapy, central line care, tube feedings, wound care, Foley insertion, and EKG monitoring
• Strong teamwork, compassion, and communication skills; outgoing and approachable with patients and colleagues

Knowledge & Skills

• Medical-Surgical nursing principles and progressive neuro monitoring
• Neuro assessment skills and experience assisting with bedside lumbar punctures
• Meditech EMR navigation and documentation best practices
• IV therapy, central line dressing techniques, and tube feeding management
• Wound care and Foley catheter insertion and care
• EKG monitoring and recognition of cardiac changes
• Excellent interpersonal communication and teamwork
