Roles & Responsibilities
- Assist surgeons during orthopedic, neurosurgical and robotic procedures with precision and calm
- Prepare and maintain sterile field and instruments using strict aseptic technique
- Set up, operate and assist with surgical robotics, including DaVinci systems
- Support high-acuity trauma cases and respond quickly in Level I trauma situations
- Anticipate surgical team needs and pass instruments efficiently during cases
- Document perioperative activity and assist with charting in Epic as required
- Collaborate with nursing and perioperative team members to ensure patient safety and efficient turnovers
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of surgical technologist experience, with proven experience in orthopedics (total joints), neurosurgery (craniotomy, spinal) and robotics
- BLS certification required
- NCCT or NBSTSA certification preferred
- Trauma Level I experience required
- Travel assignment experience preferred and travel-friendly mindset required
- First-time travelers accepted
- Candidate permanent address must be at least 50 miles from the facility (locals not accepted)
- Ability to complete 40-hour orientation
Knowledge & Skills
- Aseptic technique and infection control best practices
- Endoscopic procedures and laparoscopic assistance
- Extensive OR experience in orthopedics, neuro, trauma and robotics
- Hands-on familiarity with DaVinci robotic systems
- Epic charting familiarity
- Comfort working in a high-acuity Level I trauma environment
- Versatility across general, bariatric, pediatric and gynecologic cases
