Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, family-centered care to neonates in the NICU
- Monitor and assess newborns continuously, interpreting clinical data and responding promptly
- Administer medications and therapies safely, following neonatal protocols and orders
- Collaborate closely with neonatologists, respiratory therapists, and multidisciplinary team members
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record
- Educate and support families, helping them understand their infant’s care plan and progress
- Participate in unit-based quality improvement and safety initiatives to improve outcomes
Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license — Texas license or compact privilege if applicable
- Minimum 1 year of NICU experience (as specified)
- Current BLS required; neonatal certifications (NRP) highly recommended
- Ability to work 12-hour night shifts and collaborate in a fast-paced neonatal environment
- Strong communication skills and a commitment to family-centered neonatal care
Knowledge & Skills
- Skilled in neonatal assessment and monitoring
- Experience with respiratory support and neonatal equipment
- Medication administration and infusion therapy knowledge
- Comfortable documenting in electronic medical records
- Excellent teamwork, critical thinking, and family communication skills
