Shift Type: Monday-Friday, day shifts (40 hours/week; exact start/end times not specified). On-call: 4 nights per month, every 5th weekend, and included in holiday call rotation. Rotating/coverage responsibilities as assigned.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess and document patient condition across physical, psychological, social and spiritual dimensions
• Develop, implement and evaluate individualized nursing care plans using the nursing process
• Administer medications safely following the Five Rights of Medication Administration
• Provide perioperative care: assist surgeons and CRNAs, perform circulating and scrub duties as assigned
• Prepare, sterilize and set up operating rooms, instruments and supplies for cases
• Participate in sterile processing and assist with endoscopy procedures when needed
• Deliver post-anesthesia care and monitor patients in PACU to ensure safe recovery
• Teach patients and families appropriate discharge and self-care instructions
• Adhere to infection control, safety policies, and maintain patient confidentiality
• Engage in OR Nursing Quality Assurance and continuous improvement activities

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse licensure in the State of Nebraska (required)
• Current BLS/CPR certification (required)
• Current ACLS certification (required)
• Experience in OR, PACU, circulating or scrub nursing preferred
• Comfortable with perioperative tasks including case set-up, sterilization and instrument handling
• Ability to lift and move patients and equipment as required by clinical duties
• Strong communication, prioritization and teamwork skills
• Willingness to participate in call rotation, weekend coverage and holiday scheduling

Education

• BSN, ADN or Nursing diploma from an accredited school of nursing

Knowledge & Skills

• Nursing assessment and the nursing process
• Medication administration and IV/medication safety
• Infection control and sterile technique
• Perioperative patient care and OR/PACU workflows
• Circulating and scrub nurse responsibilities
• Sterile processing and endoscopy assistance
• Ability to follow safety protocols, emergency and disaster procedures
