Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive history and physical exams to admit, evaluate, diagnose and treat patients across all ages
• Perform surgical and non-surgical treatment of extremities and spine when indicated, including trauma and degenerative conditions
• Stabilize emergent patients, determine disposition, and coordinate inpatient care with the care team
• Respond to emergency and consultative call services in accordance with medical staff policies
• Collaborate with advanced practice providers, nursing, radiology and lab services to ensure safe, efficient patient care
• Document care accurately in Epic Enterprise and support continuity across both facilities

Qualifications

• Board certified or board eligible in Orthopedic Surgery (preferred)
• MD or DO degree and completion of an accredited Orthopedic Surgery residency
• Active medical license in Iowa or ability to obtain state licensure in a timely manner
• Current BLS; ACLS or other certifications as required by facility credentialing
• Comfort and experience with inpatient, trauma and consultative orthopedic care
• Experience using Epic or other major EMR systems is a plus

Education

• MD or DO degree
• Completion of Orthopedic Surgery residency

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong clinical judgment in musculoskeletal diagnosis and management
• Proficiency in history and physical exam, imaging interpretation and inpatient care
• Operative orthopedic skills across spine, hip, knee, shoulder, elbow, hand and foot procedures
• Ability to manage critically ill orthopedic patients in ICU settings when needed
• Clear communication and teamwork skills for working with multidisciplinary hospital teams
• Familiarity with inpatient workflows, call coverage expectations, and credentialing processes
