Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, resident-centered care to geriatric patients, keeping dignity and comfort front and center
- Assist residents with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, toileting, grooming) with patience and respect
- Safely assist with mobility and transfers using facility protocols and equipment
- Monitor residents’ condition and promptly report changes to nursing staff
- Accurately document care, observations, and any incidents in resident records
- Support mealtime assistance and ensure residents receive proper hydration and nutrition
- Follow infection control, safety, and emergency procedures to protect residents and staff
- Communicate clearly and kindly with residents’ families and the interdisciplinary care team
Qualifications
- Current GNA (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) certification or equivalent
- Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification preferred or willing to obtain
- Comfortable working with older adults and assisting with personal care
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively
- Ability to pass facility background checks and health/screening requirements
- Previous experience in long-term care, skilled nursing, or similar settings is a plus
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- GNA/CNA certification required
Knowledge & Skills
- Understanding of age-related conditions and compassionate caregiving techniques
- Skill in safe resident handling and basic mobility assistance
- Ability to take and record vital signs accurately
- Good documentation and observation skills
- Time management and the ability to prioritize resident needs
- Teamwork mindset and willingness to learn from nursing staff
