Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, respectful personal care to residents
- Assist with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, and grooming
- Support safe mobility and fall prevention measures
- Take and record vital signs and observe changes in residents' conditions
- Document care accurately and communicate observations to the nursing team
- Help create a calm, dignified environment that promotes resident wellbeing
- Collaborate with colleagues and families to ensure consistent, person-centered care
Qualifications
- GNA certification (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) — required
- Current state registry credential or ability to register as required by Maryland
- Comfort working with older adults and a passion for geriatric care
- Ability to pass background check and required facility screenings
- Reliable, punctual, and able to follow care plans and facility policies
- BLS/CPR certification preferred but not required
Education
- High school diploma or GED preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of basic patient care and infection control practices
- Comfort with ADLs and safe transfer/positioning techniques
- Clear, compassionate communication with residents, families, and team members
- Basic charting and documentation skills
- Ability to follow care plans and report changes promptly
- Teamwork mindset and a calm approach in busy care environments
