Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform thorough head-to-toe assessments and timely reassessments following policy
• Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized plans of care daily
• Assess and manage patient pain using appropriate evaluation tools and education
• Provide age-appropriate care across the lifespan, applying growth and development principles
• Administer medications safely following the five medication rights
• Educate patients and families, creating and evaluating teaching plans that include family members as appropriate
• Operate and manage equipment safely and maintain required competencies
• Coordinate care and communicate effectively with interdisciplinary team members and care coordination for discharge planning
• Document care accurately and in compliance with current standards and policies
• Demonstrate professional behavior, respect, and culturally sensitive care to patients and families

Qualifications

• Active Ohio RN license or active Compact RN license required at time of submission
• Minimum 1 year of recent Labor & Delivery experience required
• Postpartum and Nursery experience required
• Current ACLS through AHA required
• Current BLS through AHA required
• Current NRP required
• Bedside blood glucose testing competency (waived testing) required and maintained
• Certifications must be active at time of start and through AHA where applicable

Education

• BSN preferred
• Relevant certifications (ACLS, BLS, NRP) required

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong patient assessment and reassessment skills
• Ability to develop and revise plans of care and evaluate effectiveness daily
• Knowledge of medication administration across age groups and conditions
• Competence in pain assessment and management strategies
• Interdisciplinary communication and care coordination skills
• Ability to perform technical and manual nursing procedures safely
• Proficiency with Meditech EMR (experience preferred)
• Commitment to patient and family education and culturally sensitive care
