Roles & Responsibilities

• Gather and analyze patient information to tailor testing parameters and ensure safe, effective care
• Prepare, calibrate, and maintain sleep lab equipment so every study yields high-quality data
• Apply electrodes and sensors using industry standards to capture accurate physiologic signals
• Perform polysomnographic data acquisition and monitor tracing quality throughout the night
• Follow established protocols (MSLT, MWT, parasomnia studies, PAP/oxygen titration) to collect necessary data
• Score sleep stages and clinical events accurately to support diagnosis and treatment plans
• Implement therapeutic interventions such as PAP fitting and oxygen administration when clinically indicated
• Complete and verify documentation, and communicate findings clearly with the care team
• Adhere to infection control, safety policies, and BRPT Standards of Conduct to protect patients and staff

Qualifications

• Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (R.P.S.G.T.) required
• Current BLS/BCLS certification required
• Successful completion of a polysomnography program or AASM A-STEP program (or equivalent documented experience)
• Experience with polysomnographic data acquisition, scoring, and equipment calibration
• Comfortable working night shifts, occasional weekends, and holiday coverage
• Ability to provide age-specific care (pediatric through geriatric) and handle complex procedural situations
• Reliable, flexible, and able to step in for coverage when needed

Education

• Completion of an accredited polysomnography program or AASM A-STEP program (or equivalent experience)

Knowledge & Skills

• Polysomnography and sleep study scoring expertise
• Polysomnographic data acquisition and equipment calibration
• PAP mask fitting and titration procedures
• Familiarity with MSLT/MWT and parasomnia study protocols
• Infection control and safety compliance knowledge
• Experience with NOX software is a plus
• Strong documentation, communication, and critical-thinking skills
