Shift Type: Rotating day and night shifts (variable shift lengths and days; specific start/end times TBD). Scheduled 36 hours per week following first full week of orientation. Must be flexible — no guarantee of hours or shift preference. No holiday RTO requests.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide safe, high-quality med-surg nursing care to adult patients (18+)
• Assess patients, develop nursing plans, implement interventions and evaluate outcomes
• Operate and document care in Meditech EMR to ensure accurate patient records
• Administer medications and manage supply workflows using Pyxis
• Manage wound VACs and chest tube care with meticulous attention to safety
• Float between med-surg, surgical pediatrics and transitional care units as needed
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and communicate clearly with patients and families
• Maintain professional attire and uphold unit dress code and standards

Qualifications

• Active State of Hawaii RN license required by start of assignment — applicants not currently licensed must apply upon acceptance
• Minimum 2+ years of med-surg or higher-level care experience
• BLS required; ACLS preferred
• Experience with Meditech EMR, Pyxis, wound VACs and chest tube management
• Ability and willingness to float to surgical pediatrics and transitional care units
• Professional demeanor, reliable attendance, and adherence to department policies (no holiday RTO requests)

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid understanding of med-surg nursing principles and adult patient care
• Proficient clinical assessment, critical thinking and prioritization skills
• Familiarity with Meditech EMR workflows and documentation best practices
• Medication administration and inventory management using Pyxis
• Wound care, wound VAC management and chest tube care skills
• Adaptability to variable shift patterns and ability to work collaboratively
• Clear communication with patients, families and interdisciplinary teams
