Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, high-quality patient care on the medical unit, maintaining patient safety and dignity
• Utilize Meditech EMR to document assessments, interventions, and patient progress accurately
• Administer medications and manage equipment (Pyxis, wound VAC, chest tubes) according to policy
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized care plans
• Float to other units (Laulima Unit, Cardiovascular Unit) as needed to support patient needs
• Maintain professional nursing standards, adhere to dress code, and participate in unit-specific orientation and training

Qualifications

• Active Hawaii RN license required by the start date of the assignment
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• 2-10 years of medical unit nursing experience (per job posting requirement)
• Ability to work night shifts and adapt to variable shift lengths and days
• Proof of flu vaccination or an approved medical/religious exemption required prior to contract start

Knowledge & Skills

• Experience with Meditech EMR for charting and clinical documentation
• Familiarity with Pyxis medication systems and safe medication administration
• Competence managing wound VAC therapy and chest tube care
• Strong patient assessment and clinical decision-making skills
• Comfort working in a unit with a nurse-to-patient ratio of up to 1:8 on nights
