Shift Type: Night, 3x12-hour nights per week (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM); schedule varies (specific days vary), every other/third weekend coverage required; floating within OSU required

Candidate Pay Rate: $60 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, high-quality nursing care to adult and geriatric PCU patients using evidence-based practices
- Monitor and interpret telemetry and dysrhythmias, initiating appropriate interventions and escalating when needed
- Establish and maintain IV access, manage central/PICC lines, and perform phlebotomy safely and accurately
- Manage complex wound care, including wound VACs, burn dressings, flap checks and leech therapy when required
- Support perioperative and post-op care for plastic/reconstructive, urology, GYN, ENT and oral/maxillofacial patients
- Administer medications via Pyxis and document thoroughly in EPIC to ensure safe, accurate medication management
- Participate in rapid response and code teams, providing critical interventions in emergencies
- Coordinate care with interdisciplinary teams (PT, respiratory, pharmacy, social work, transport) for seamless patient transitions
- Provide feeding tube care and oxygen/airway management, including non-invasive airway support and oxygen therapy
- Educate patients and families on care plans, discharge teaching, and self-care after hospitalization
Qualifications
- Active RN license (eligible to practice in Ohio)
- BLS and ACLS required
- Minimum 2+ years recent PCU/step-down or telemetry experience with a similar patient population
- Experience with telemetry monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and rapid response/code participation
- Skilled in IV therapy, central line and PICC line care and phlebotomy
- Comfortable with wound care (including wound VACs), burn dressings, flap checks and specialty therapies like leech therapy
- Previous charge RN experience preferred
- Teaching hospital experience preferred
- Willingness to float within the OSU system and provide weekend coverage as scheduled
Knowledge & Skills
- EPIC documentation and Pyxis medication system proficiency
- Telemetry monitoring and interpretation of dysrhythmias
- IV access, central line and PICC management, and phlebotomy skills
- Wound care management, including wound VACs and burn dressing protocols
- Feeding tube care and gastrointestinal procedure familiarity (NG/Dobhoff)
- Oxygen therapy, nasal cannula, oxygen tanks and non-invasive airway management
- Experience with epidural analgesia, procedural sedation monitoring and cardiac/insulin drip titration protocols
- Familiarity with hemodialysis-related care and continuous bladder irrigation (CBI)
- Strong critical thinking, rapid response participation and interdisciplinary communication
