Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality critical care to adult and geriatric patients in the ICU
• Manage ventilated patients and perform ventilator troubleshooting and adjustments
• Monitor cardiac rhythms and interpret dysrhythmias; obtain and interpret 12-lead EKGs
• Manage arterial, central and PICC lines and perform arterial/central line care
• Administer blood products safely and follow transfusion protocols
• Titrate vasoactive and cardiac drips and manage continuous IV sedation/paralytics
• Perform chest tube care and assist with chest tube insertion/removal as needed
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (pharmacy, IV team, respiratory therapy) to optimize patient outcomes
• Float between like units within scope to meet facility staffing needs

Qualifications

• Active RN license in the appropriate state (pending licenses are not accepted)
• Minimum 2 years of ICU experience (travel experience required)
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
• Must pass EKG exam — no exceptions
• Comfort with Epic charting system
• Ability to work every-other-weekend and participate in unit float as needed

Knowledge & Skills

• Ventilator management and care of ventilated patients
• Cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and 12-lead EKG interpretation
• Arterial, central and PICC line management
• IV therapy and IV starts; blood product administration
• Titration of vasoactive and cardiac drips; continuous IV sedation/paralytics
• Chest tube care and basic respiratory support (BiPAP/CPAP assistance)
• ICP monitoring, lumbar drains and post-craniotomy care (neuro ICU experience preferred)
• Trauma level II experience, GI surgery and renal failure management
• Familiarity with working in a teaching hospital environment and interdisciplinary care
