Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, hands-on care to older adults — assist with bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting
- Support mobility and transfers safely to promote independence and prevent falls
- Observe, report, and document changes in residents’ conditions to the nursing team promptly
- Assist with meal service and feeding, honoring dietary needs and resident preferences
- Engage residents with respectful communication and meaningful interaction to enhance quality of life
- Follow infection control and safety protocols to protect residents and staff
- Collaborate with colleagues and family members to deliver coordinated, person-centered care
Qualifications
- Certified Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) — current or eligible for Maryland certification
- Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or willingness to obtain
- Clear background check and required immunizations per facility policy
- Compassionate attitude, strong communication skills, and ability to work as part of a team
- Ability to perform physical aspects of the job, including assisting with transfers and mobility
- Reliable, punctual, and ready to work evening shifts
Education
- High school diploma or GED required
- Completion of an approved GNA training program
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of geriatric care principles and dignity-focused caregiving
- Basic understanding of infection control and patient safety practices
- Skill in assisting with activities of daily living (ADLs) and transfers
- Able to observe and accurately report changes in resident condition
- Teamwork and communication skills for coordinating with nurses and families
- Familiarity with electronic charting a plus
