Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, hands-on care to older adults — assist with bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting
• Support mobility and transfers safely to promote independence and prevent falls
• Observe, report, and document changes in residents’ conditions to the nursing team promptly
• Assist with meal service and feeding, honoring dietary needs and resident preferences
• Engage residents with respectful communication and meaningful interaction to enhance quality of life
• Follow infection control and safety protocols to protect residents and staff
• Collaborate with colleagues and family members to deliver coordinated, person-centered care

Qualifications

• Certified Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) — current or eligible for Maryland certification
• Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or willingness to obtain
• Clear background check and required immunizations per facility policy
• Compassionate attitude, strong communication skills, and ability to work as part of a team
• Ability to perform physical aspects of the job, including assisting with transfers and mobility
• Reliable, punctual, and ready to work evening shifts

Education

• High school diploma or GED required
• Completion of an approved GNA training program

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of geriatric care principles and dignity-focused caregiving
• Basic understanding of infection control and patient safety practices
• Skill in assisting with activities of daily living (ADLs) and transfers
• Able to observe and accurately report changes in resident condition
• Teamwork and communication skills for coordinating with nurses and families
• Familiarity with electronic charting a plus
