Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate personal care to residents, focusing on dignity and comfort
• Assist residents with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting
• Support safe mobility and transfers while using proper body mechanics and assistive devices
• Observe and report changes in residents' condition to nursing staff promptly
• Accurately document care delivered and resident responses in charts or electronic records
• Work collaboratively with the nursing team and therapy staff to support individualized care plans
• Maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for residents
• Engage residents in social activities and provide emotional support to enhance quality of life

Qualifications

• Current GNA certification (required)
• Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification preferred or willing to obtain
• State of Maryland certification or eligibility to practice in Maryland
• Previous experience in long-term care, assisted living, or geriatric care settings preferred
• Ability to pass background check and drug screen
• Strong communication skills and a compassionate bedside manner
• Reliable, punctual, and able to work effectively as part of a team

Education

• High school diploma or GED
• Completion of an accredited GNA program or equivalent certification

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of geriatric care principles and common age-related conditions
• Skilled in activities of daily living (ADLs) assistance and safe resident handling
• Familiarity with infection control practices and universal precautions
• Basic documentation skills and attention to detail
• Ability to follow care plans and respond appropriately to changes in resident status
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced long-term care environment
• Basic familiarity with electronic medical records is a plus
