Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate personal care to geriatric residents, honoring dignity and individuality
• Assist residents with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, toileting, mobility)
• Monitor residents’ condition and promptly report changes to nursing staff
• Document care accurately and thoroughly in resident charts
• Support safe, clean, and comfortable resident environments
• Collaborate with nurses, therapists, and family members to implement care plans
• Engage residents in meaningful conversation and activities to promote well-being

Qualifications

• Current GNA certification (required) — must meet Maryland state requirements
• High school diploma or GED
• Current CPR/BLS certification preferred
• Previous experience in long-term care, skilled nursing, or geriatrics is a plus
• Ability to pass background checks, drug screens, and required health screenings
• Strong communication skills and a compassionate, patient-focused attitude

Education

• High school diploma or GED required; GNA certification required

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of geriatric care principles and common age-related conditions
• Skillful in assisting with ADLs and safe resident transfers
• Basic documentation and charting skills
• Familiarity with infection control and safety procedures
• Excellent teamwork, communication, and interpersonal skills
• Time management and the ability to prioritize resident needs
