Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate personal care to geriatric residents, honoring dignity and individuality
- Assist residents with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, toileting, mobility)
- Monitor residents’ condition and promptly report changes to nursing staff
- Document care accurately and thoroughly in resident charts
- Support safe, clean, and comfortable resident environments
- Collaborate with nurses, therapists, and family members to implement care plans
- Engage residents in meaningful conversation and activities to promote well-being
Qualifications
- Current GNA certification (required) — must meet Maryland state requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Current CPR/BLS certification preferred
- Previous experience in long-term care, skilled nursing, or geriatrics is a plus
- Ability to pass background checks, drug screens, and required health screenings
- Strong communication skills and a compassionate, patient-focused attitude
Education
- High school diploma or GED required; GNA certification required
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of geriatric care principles and common age-related conditions
- Skillful in assisting with ADLs and safe resident transfers
- Basic documentation and charting skills
- Familiarity with infection control and safety procedures
- Excellent teamwork, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Time management and the ability to prioritize resident needs
