Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, person-centered care to geriatric residents, assisting with activities of daily living
• Monitor residents for changes in condition and promptly report concerns to nursing staff
• Assist with safe transfers, mobility and fall prevention measures to protect resident wellbeing
• Support mealtime and hydration needs, accommodating dietary and cultural preferences
• Maintain accurate documentation and follow care plans to ensure continuity of care
• Build trusting relationships with residents and families, offering reassurance and respectful communication
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to contribute to high-quality long-term care outcomes

Qualifications

• GNA or CNA certification in good standing (state-recognized) — required or as specified by the facility
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) or CPR certification preferred
• Up-to-date immunizations and TB screening per facility policy
• Clean background check and ability to pass facility onboarding requirements
• Previous experience in long-term care or geriatric settings preferred but enthusiastic new graduates are welcome

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent; completion of an approved GNA/CNA program

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong knowledge of activities of daily living and geriatric care principles
• Ability to observe and report changes in resident condition clearly and timely
• Excellent interpersonal skills and empathy when working with older adults
• Basic infection control practices and safe body mechanics for lifting/transfers
• Time management and teamwork in a fast-paced long-term care environment
