Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, hands-on care to geriatric residents, supporting activities of daily living
- Assist nursing staff with monitoring and documenting vital signs and behavioral observations
- Support resident mobility safely, using proper body mechanics and assistive devices
- Maintain a clean, comfortable environment and assist with basic personal care tasks
- Communicate clearly with nurses, families, and interdisciplinary team members about resident needs
- Follow infection control protocols and facility policies to keep residents safe
- Contribute to a positive resident experience by promoting dignity, respect, and comfort
Qualifications
- Current GNA certification (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) or equivalent in good standing
- Eligible for or holding any required Maryland state certification or registry entry
- Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or willingness to obtain upon hire
- Comfortable working nights and providing hands-on care to the geriatric population
- Strong communication skills, compassion, and a team-oriented attitude
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent
- GNA certification (required)
Knowledge & Skills
- Familiarity with geriatric care principles and working with elderly residents
- Basic clinical skills: taking vitals, assisting with ADLs, safe resident transfers
- Good observation and documentation skills to report changes in condition
- Infection control practices and safe handling of personal care tasks
- Ability to work independently during night shifts and prioritize resident needs
- Strong interpersonal skills for working with residents, families, and clinical teams
