Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate personal care and assistance to geriatric residents
- Assist residents with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, and mobility
- Monitor and report changes in resident condition to nursing staff promptly
- Document care and observations accurately in the resident record
- Support safe and dignified mealtimes and assist with feeding when needed
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to promote resident comfort and independence
Qualifications
- Current Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) certification required
- CPR/BLS certification preferred or completion upon hire if required by facility
- Previous experience in long-term care, skilled nursing, or geriatric settings is a plus
- Ability to pass background check and drug screening as required
- Strong communication skills and a heart for elder care
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Completion of an approved GNA training program and certification
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of resident safety, infection control, and basic elder care practices
- Comfortable assisting with ADLs and mobility support
- Good documentation and charting abilities
- Strong interpersonal skills for working with residents, families, and the care team
- Ability to follow care plans and verbal/written instructions accurately
