Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, person-centered care to geriatric residents
- Assist residents with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, and feeding
- Monitor and document vital signs and resident behavior changes accurately
- Support mobility and safe transfers, using proper body mechanics and assistive devices
- Communicate clearly with nursing staff and families about resident needs
- Maintain a clean, safe and comfortable environment for residents
- Observe infection-control procedures and follow facility policies consistently
Qualifications
- Active GNA (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) certification or equivalent
- Current state-required immunizations and TB screening as per facility policy
- Willingness to pass background checks and required facility onboarding
- Strong interpersonal skills and a genuine passion for working with older adults
- Previous experience in long-term care or geriatric settings is a plus
Education
- High school diploma or GED preferred; completion of an approved GNA training program
Knowledge & Skills
- Understanding of geriatric care principles and common age-related conditions
- Basic clinical skills: vital signs, ADL support, mobility assistance
- Good observation and documentation skills
- Infection control best practices and safe patient handling
- Teamwork, clear communication, and resident-centered care approach
