Roles & Responsibilities

• Assist residents with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting with dignity and compassion
• Measure and document vital signs accurately and report any concerns to the nursing team
• Support safe mobility and transfers, using proper body mechanics and assistive devices
• Provide meaningful companionship and engage residents in social and recreational activities
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation in resident charts and care plans
• Observe and report changes in resident condition to the RN or supervisor promptly
• Follow infection control protocols and maintain a clean, safe environment

Qualifications

• Current Maryland GNA certification or equivalent state certification
• Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification preferred or willingness to obtain
• Ability to pass background check and required health screenings
• Comfortable working with elderly populations and those with chronic conditions
• Strong communication skills and a team-oriented attitude
• Reliable transportation and flexibility for a travel contract assignment

Education

• High school diploma or GED required
• Completion of an approved Geriatric Nursing Assistant program or equivalent

Knowledge & Skills

• Hands-on resident care and personal care techniques
• Vital sign measurement and basic clinical observations
• Proper documentation and charting practices
• Infection control and standard precautions
• Safe transfer and mobility assistance
• Empathy, patience, and effective communication with residents and families
