Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide kind, patient-centered care to geriatric residents, assisting with activities of daily living
- Monitor and record vital signs, reporting changes promptly to the clinical team
- Assist with safe transfers, mobility and fall-prevention measures to keep residents safe
- Support mealtime needs and feeding assistance while respecting resident preferences
- Document resident care thoroughly and communicate effectively during shift handoffs
- Participate in care planning and contribute to a positive, therapeutic environment
Qualifications
- GNA certification (Class: GNA) — required
- Active/state-appropriate certification or eligibility to practice in Maryland
- Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or willingness to obtain
- Experience working with geriatric or long-term care residents preferred
- Clear background check, required immunizations/TB screening per facility policy
- Compassionate, patient-focused attitude with strong communication skills
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent
- GNA certification (required)
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong knowledge of safe patient handling and mobility assistance
- Proficient in basic clinical observations: vitals, intake/output, and skin assessments
- Familiarity with documentation best practices and electronic charting (if applicable)
- Excellent interpersonal skills for working with seniors and multidisciplinary teams
- Ability to follow care plans and prioritize resident safety and dignity
