Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, resident-centered care to older adults, helping them feel safe and valued
- Assist residents with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, grooming and feeding
- Support mobility and safe transfers, using proper body mechanics and assistive devices
- Monitor resident condition and report changes promptly to nursing staff to ensure timely care
- Document care activities accurately and neatly in the chart to maintain continuity
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to deliver coordinated, high-quality care
- Promote a warm, home-like environment that encourages resident dignity and independence
Qualifications
- Valid Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) certification — Maryland preferred
- Current CPR/BLS certification or willingness to obtain upon hire
- Pass background check and meet facility immunization and TB screening requirements
- Comfortable working in long-term care and skilled nursing environments
- Strong communication skills and a positive, team-oriented attitude
- Reliable, punctual, and committed to resident safety and respect
Education
- High school diploma or GED required
- Completion of an accredited GNA program or equivalent training
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of geriatric care principles and common age-related conditions
- Skilled in assisting with ADLs and basic resident hygiene
- Familiarity with infection control, hand hygiene and PPE best practices
- Ability to observe, document and communicate changes in resident status
- Comfortable with safe transfer techniques and use of mobility aids
- Good interpersonal skills for working with residents, families and staff
