Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, resident-centered care to older adults, helping them feel safe and valued
• Assist residents with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, grooming and feeding
• Support mobility and safe transfers, using proper body mechanics and assistive devices
• Monitor resident condition and report changes promptly to nursing staff to ensure timely care
• Document care activities accurately and neatly in the chart to maintain continuity
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to deliver coordinated, high-quality care
• Promote a warm, home-like environment that encourages resident dignity and independence

Qualifications

• Valid Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) certification — Maryland preferred
• Current CPR/BLS certification or willingness to obtain upon hire
• Pass background check and meet facility immunization and TB screening requirements
• Comfortable working in long-term care and skilled nursing environments
• Strong communication skills and a positive, team-oriented attitude
• Reliable, punctual, and committed to resident safety and respect

Education

• High school diploma or GED required
• Completion of an accredited GNA program or equivalent training

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of geriatric care principles and common age-related conditions
• Skilled in assisting with ADLs and basic resident hygiene
• Familiarity with infection control, hand hygiene and PPE best practices
• Ability to observe, document and communicate changes in resident status
• Comfortable with safe transfer techniques and use of mobility aids
• Good interpersonal skills for working with residents, families and staff
