Roles & Responsibilities

• Assist residents with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, toileting) with dignity and respect
• Support safe mobility and transfers while following proper body mechanics
• Observe and report changes in condition to the nursing team promptly
• Take and record vital signs accurately and communicate trends
• Help create a warm, home-like environment and provide meaningful companionship
• Maintain clean, organized resident areas and follow infection control policies
• Document care and interventions clearly to support continuity and quality of care

Qualifications

• Current Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) certification or equivalent
• Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification preferred or willing to obtain
• Valid state certification/registration as required by Maryland
• Ability to pass background checks and meet facility health/immunization requirements
• Comfortable with hands-on resident care and safe patient handling
• Strong communication skills and a compassionate bedside manner

Education

• GNA certification required
• High school diploma or GED preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Comfortable providing personal care and supporting ADLs
• Knowledge of infection control and safe hygiene practices
• Ability to take and document vital signs and simple observations
• Good time management and ability to prioritize resident needs
• Team player who communicates clearly with nurses and care staff
• Empathy, patience, and the ability to engage residents respectfully
