Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, hands-on care to geriatric residents, helping with activities of daily living
- Assist with bathing, dressing, feeding and mobility while preserving dignity and independence
- Monitor residents for changes in condition and promptly report observations to nursing staff
- Document care accurately and timely in resident records
- Support a safe, clean and comfortable environment for residents
- Communicate clearly and kindly with residents, families and the care team
- Collaborate with nurses and therapists to follow care plans and improve outcomes
Qualifications
- Current GNA certification (required)
- CPR/BLS certification preferred or willing to obtain
- Comfortable working with older adults and those with complex needs
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to pass background check and meet facility health requirements
- Previous experience in long-term care or assisted living is a plus
Education
- High school diploma or GED
- Completion of an accredited GNA training program
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of geriatric care and common age-related conditions
- Skilled in assisting with ADLs and safe transfer techniques
- Basic infection control and safety practices
- Accurate documentation and time-management skills
- Compassionate bedside manner and strong interpersonal skills
- Ability to follow care plans and take direction from nursing staff
