Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, hands-on care to geriatric residents including assistance with activities of daily living
- Monitor residents for changes in condition and promptly report concerns to nursing staff
- Assist with safe transfers, ambulation, and positioning to promote comfort and mobility
- Support mealtime assistance and ensure dietary needs and preferences are respected
- Maintain accurate, timely documentation of care and resident observations
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to create a welcoming, person-centered environment
Qualifications
- Current GNA (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) certification as required by the facility
- Valid CPR/BLS certification preferred or willingness to obtain
- Ability to pass background check and meet facility onboarding requirements
- Demonstrated experience or strong interest in caring for older adults
- Good communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Completion of an accredited GNA training program and certification
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong knowledge of elder care practices and safety-first resident handling
- Competence with activities of daily living (ADLs) support and personal care
- Basic clinical observation skills and ability to report changes effectively
- Comfortable with documentation and following care plans
- Empathy, patience, and clear communication with residents and families
