Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, hands-on care to elderly residents, supporting daily living activities
• Assist nursing staff with bedside care, hygiene, mobility, and feeding as needed
• Observe and report changes in resident condition to the licensed nurse promptly
• Build trusting relationships with residents and families through respectful communication
• Maintain a clean, safe environment by following infection control and safety protocols
• Document care accurately and timely to ensure continuity and quality of care

Qualifications

• Current GNA certification (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) or state equivalent
• CPR/BLS certification preferred or willing to obtain upon hire
• Current basic immunizations and TB screening as required by facility policy
• Background check and any state-required clearances completed prior to start
• Comfortable working with older adults in long-term care or skilled nursing settings
• Positive attitude, strong communication skills, and a teamwork mindset

Education

• High school diploma or GED preferred
• Completion of an accredited GNA training program

Knowledge & Skills

• Understanding of geriatric care principles and dignity-centered support
• Skill in safe patient transfers, ambulation assistance, and use of assistive devices
• Ability to follow care plans and accurately document care given
• Good infection control practices and attention to detail
• Strong interpersonal skills for working with residents, families, and clinical teams
