Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, hands-on care to elderly residents, supporting daily living activities
- Assist nursing staff with bedside care, hygiene, mobility, and feeding as needed
- Observe and report changes in resident condition to the licensed nurse promptly
- Build trusting relationships with residents and families through respectful communication
- Maintain a clean, safe environment by following infection control and safety protocols
- Document care accurately and timely to ensure continuity and quality of care
Qualifications
- Current GNA certification (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) or state equivalent
- CPR/BLS certification preferred or willing to obtain upon hire
- Current basic immunizations and TB screening as required by facility policy
- Background check and any state-required clearances completed prior to start
- Comfortable working with older adults in long-term care or skilled nursing settings
- Positive attitude, strong communication skills, and a teamwork mindset
Education
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Completion of an accredited GNA training program
Knowledge & Skills
- Understanding of geriatric care principles and dignity-centered support
- Skill in safe patient transfers, ambulation assistance, and use of assistive devices
- Ability to follow care plans and accurately document care given
- Good infection control practices and attention to detail
- Strong interpersonal skills for working with residents, families, and clinical teams
