Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, dignified personal care to elderly residents, focusing on comfort and respect
- Assist with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, toileting, and mobility
- Take and record vital signs accurately and report changes in condition to nursing staff
- Support meal assistance and ensure proper hydration, honoring dietary needs
- Keep clear, timely documentation in resident charts and communicate effectively with the care team
- Promote a safe environment by following infection control and safety protocols
- Engage residents with meaningful conversation and activities to enhance quality of life
Qualifications
- GNA certification (or state-equivalent) required
- Current CPR/BLS preferred or willingness to obtain upon hire
- Experience working with geriatric or long-term care populations is a plus
- Up-to-date immunizations and TB screening as required by facility
- Background check and ability to pass facility onboarding requirements
- Compassionate, patient-focused mindset with strong observational skills
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent
- GNA certification or state-recognized nursing assistant credential
Knowledge & Skills
- Skilled in personal care and basic nursing assistance for older adults
- Comfortable taking and documenting vital signs and intake/output
- Strong communication and teamwork skills with caregivers and families
- Knowledge of infection control, safety practices, and resident rights
- Ability to follow care plans and report changes in resident status promptly
- Good time management and ability to prioritize resident needs
