Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide safe, compassionate direct patient care to residents within the facility
- Administer medications and treatments accurately and document per policy
- Monitor, assess, and document patient status and report changes to the care team
- Collaborate with nursing and interdisciplinary staff to coordinate patient care plans
- Maintain security and safety protocols required for a correctional setting
- Respond promptly to emergencies and assist with triage and stabilization
- Educate patients on basic health needs and support continuity of care
- Maintain accurate, timely charting and complete required nursing documentation
- Follow infection control practices and preserve patient confidentiality
Qualifications
- Active Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license for Pennsylvania
- Current BLS/CPR certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire)
- Ability to pass background checks and any facility-specific clearances
- Comfort and professionalism working inside a correctional/jail environment
- Strong communication, observation, and documentation skills
- Up-to-date immunizations and TB testing as required by facility policy
Education
- LPN diploma or certificate; active PA LPN license required
Knowledge & Skills
- Medication administration and basic treatment skills
- Patient assessment and vital signs monitoring
- Infection prevention and wound care fundamentals
- Accurate clinical documentation and charting practices
- De-escalation and safety awareness in secure settings
- Team collaboration and clear communication with clinical staff
- Basic proficiency with electronic health records or clinical documentation systems
