Roles & Responsibilities

• Prepare the operating room and ensure all instruments and supplies are sterile and ready for neuro procedures
• Anticipate surgeon needs during complex neurosurgical cases and provide precise instrument handling
• Maintain strict adherence to aseptic technique and patient safety protocols
• Assist with patient positioning, draping, and transfer to support optimal surgical outcomes
• Perform accurate instrument counts and documentation before, during, and after procedures
• Participate in holiday and on-call rotations to support department coverage within a 90-mile radius
• Collaborate with the perioperative team to troubleshoot equipment and ensure timely case flow

Qualifications

• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) required
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
• Ability to pass Trinity Skills Checklist and Trinity Specialty Specific Competency Testing
• License/certificate verification as required by state and facility
• Current immunizations and health screenings (COVID-19 vaccine, MMR, Hepatitis B, Influenza, Varicella, Tdap, 2-step PPD or IGRA, fit test, 10-panel drug screen)
• Comfort with on-call responsibilities and travel within a 90-mile service area
• Strong teamwork, communication, and professionalism in the operating room

Education

• Graduation from an accredited Surgical Technology program preferred
• High school diploma or GED required

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid knowledge of neurosurgical instruments, supplies, and procedural workflows
• Expertise in sterile technique and OR asepsis
• Familiarity with neuro-specific case setups and positioning
• Fast, calm decision-making and the ability to anticipate needs in high-stakes cases
• Clear communication with surgeons, anesthesia, and nursing staff
• Basic equipment troubleshooting and familiarity with operative devices
