Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide skilled therapeutic interventions under the direction of the supervising Physical Therapist
• Assist patients with mobility, therapeutic exercises, transfers, gait training and functional activities
• Document patient treatments, progress and responses clearly and timely in the medical record
• Educate patients and families on home exercise programs and safe functional strategies
• Collaborate with nursing and interdisciplinary team members to deliver coordinated care
• Maintain a safe environment and follow infection control and safety protocols
• Support program goals for patient outcomes, throughput and quality improvement

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program
• Current PTA license in Maryland or eligible for licensure
• Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification required or obtainable upon hire
• Previous experience in outpatient or skilled nursing/rehabilitation settings preferred
• Strong communication, documentation and teamwork skills
• Ability to safely perform transfers and assist with patient mobility

Education

• Associate Degree from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program

Knowledge & Skills

• Understanding of therapeutic exercise techniques and functional mobility training
• Skilled in patient transfers, gait training and use of assistive devices
• Familiarity with rehab documentation and care planning
• Ability to teach and motivate patients and caregivers
• Comfort working in a fast-paced skilled nursing/rehab environment and adapting to floating assignments
